Child adoption is on the rise

Child adoption is on the rise, but there are still so many children in the world today that desperately need a home to call their own. They live in poverty and desolation. Many are even abused and neglected. They are denied the basic necessities and human rights that we hold so dear, yet take for granted. Each adult who adopts a child rather than electing to have a biological child of their own, gives hope to another child who may never have had a chance otherwise.

Children bring something to your life that is impossible to replicate. Sure, they sometimes bring frustration, sadness and irritation, but there is also overwhelming happiness in the love they give you. Some couples choose not to have their own biological children, but instead they go for child adoption as the solution to the problem, for the huge number of kids without a home or family, this is a blessing. Some couples can not have children, yet still want to feel the sense of happiness and completion that a child can give. They want to nurture and love a child completely.

The adoptive family has generated a huge amount of media attention in the past year. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s adoption of two children, each from different countries, has caused a surge in popularity and awareness for the plight of orphaned and abandoned children. Madonna is another superstar that contributed to the adoption trend, and help a child in need of a family. Though adoption seems to be a trend in Hollywood, at the moment, adoptions have been occurring for thousands of years.

Unfortunately there is no such thing as free adoption. It takes time and money, and often costs more than the average couple can afford  to spend. No one makes money on the exchange  during a child adoption, but there are expenses such as traveling, especially if it is to a foreign country. There are fees  to be paid to the adoption agency, as well as the cost for a lawyer.

State adoptions are quite common for the average couple because it allows them to be foster parents before taking the full and unconditional responsibility of child adoption. Some families regularly foster children whom they later fully embrace through foster care adoptions. This is a  blessing for children who may have been abused or with physical handicaps. It takes a special person to be a foster parent, and those children that are placed with them are truly lucky. The foster parents looking to adopt a foster child, believe they are the most grateful for the child or children who have come into their lives.
